At our school we utilize the Envision Math curriculum, a comprehensive and engaging curriculum designed to build a strong foundation in mathematics for all students. Envision Math emphasizes conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem solving skills, ensuring that students not only grasp mathematical concepts but also apply them confidently in various contexts.
We utilize HMH Into Reading as our reading and writing curriculum. HMH Into Reading is a comprehensive literacy program designed to support and enhance students’ reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Developed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, this curriculum aims to foster a love of reading while building essential skills in early learners.
At PS 398 our students in grades Kindergarten through second grade utilize Heggerty. Heggerty is a phonemic awareness curriculum designed to enhance early literacy skills for young learners, particularly in the foundational years of reading instruction. Developed by Dr. Michael Heggerty, the program focuses on gilding students phonemic awareness, which is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words.
Our students in grades K-3 utilize Really Great Reading. Really Great Reading is an educational program designed to support and enhance early literacy development, particularly in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, and word recognition. The curriculum provides a structured approach to teaching foundational reading skills, aimed at improving reading proficiency for students in early grades.
Our students receive science instruction from our dedicated Science teacher, Ms. Reilly. We utilize Amplify Science curriculum for all of our students Kindergarten through fifth grade. Amplify Science is an educational curriculum developed to provide students with a hands-on, inquiry based approach to learning science. Created by Amplify, the curriculum is designed to engage students in exploring scientific concepts through real-world phenomena and experiential learning.
All students at PS 398 have visual arts and music at least once per week. Our Visual Arts teacher, Ms. Marr and Music teacher, Mr. Meyer use the arts to enrich our students’ educational experience and foster creative development. Our visual arts program encourages students to explore their artistic talents through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media. In our music program, students are introduced to a world of rhythm, melody, and harmony. Through hands-on experiences with various instruments, vocal training, and music theory, students build their musical abilities and appreciation.
